December Daily and a freebie in Swedish

Project life, pocket scrapbooking, december daily, spellbinders, Becky Higgins, Simple stories

So I am still working on my December Daily and I am still not getting to far after. I actually didn’t believe that I could keep this up for this long, so yeas I am a bit proud of myself.

Last week I spent a few days in Copenhagen on a business trip and I only took my mobile to take photos with. I used Instagram a lot so I decided to try some of the Simple Stories page protectors (left side). I didn’t realize until now that these pages are slightly bigger than the Becky Higgins ones. I don’t think I like that and of cause the perfectionist in me wants to change these to Becky Higgins. Does any of my readers know if she has this design?

Normally I would have had the same event on the same side of the album, as one spread. I guess the small size of this album, the December daily theme and the different designs of the protectors made it more logical to have the pics like this.

And now a special message for my Swedish readers.

Project Life, December Daily 7 - 8 December documented

project life, December Daily, 24 days of December, Christmas 2014, freebie

Today I´m sharing another two pages in my December Daily. And, a little freebie png-file if you like the style of my photos on this spread.

project life, December Daily, 24 days of December, Christmas 2014, freebie

As you might have noticed, I don’t have any dates on this page. That is because I just wanted to document our home now, instead of waiting till a day I don’t have photos. I am actually very proud that I up till know have been able to take at least one photo each day. Even though they aren’t al Christmas themed.

I have used a Spellbinders embossing plate for the background of this card. I love the crisp white, but still it has some pattern. The decos are from my Christmas freebie kit that you can find on my Facebook page.

On this spread I wanted to write a little something about all the photos but I knew pretty soon that I would not have so much space for journaling. Instead I chose to write on the photo.

I thought you might want to have a freebie that you can use as a stamp on your photos or for a decoration. Download it here.

I have a little confession to make. I have this thing with Christmas trees. On a normal Christmas…
I manage to have at least two or three of them, all dressed up with as much ornaments I can find. Well… that would be just a few for you in the USA but a lot for us here in Sweden. J This little one is only the first of them. I love how it turned out this year with only my favourite ornaments in it.

December daily with my freebies

Becky Higgins, Project life, December Daily, freebies, 6x8 inch, Spellbinders

As some of you might know, I have been doing pocket scrapbooking mostly by events, not to document every single day of life. But I have challenged myself with a December daily project. I chose a smaller size, 6x8, not only because I hope to do one page every day but also because I find the 12x12 size slightly too big to flip through comfortably.  Actually I don’t quite understand why the albums has to be so huge when opened up. To me it seems that the rings are place all wrong. My A4 albums rings are all placed in the middle which makes them at least 2 inches smaller when opened up. Maybe it´s just in my mind though.

I have more or less only used my own freebies so far.

Becky Higgins, Project life, December Daily, freebies, 6x8 inch, Spellbinders

All the freebies comes both with English and Swedish text.

This card is made with a Spellbinders dies and star punch. I punched several stars and glued them together to get some dimension.

The third of December was quite eventful here in Sweden. I chose to document it by making a collage of some of the newspaper headlines that day. As we all knew it would be an eventful day, I had the chance to take several print screens of the biggest newspapers headlines.

The collage from Instagram is from that same day but from my daughters account.

On this card, only the number 3 is from my freebie. Unfortunately I can’t remember where the rest comes from. It is not a die, it’s a card I bought.

This is also a Spellbinders die. I think it might be my all time favorite. I love how the 1 ½ inch circle fits perfectly in the middle.

Vintage bottles - DIY

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, Original, vintage bottles,

I have loved these vintage bottles and jars from the first moment I saw them. I had to try to make a few of my own and I bet these arn´t the last ones I do.

I know most people use some sort of mod podge or glue to transfer the cute vintage images on to the painted bottle. That is not how I did it. I used motives from The Graphics Fairy.

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, Original, vintage bottles,

I started with painting the bottles twice with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, color Original.

I printed my images on a sheet of transfer paper that I bought at Slöjd-Detaljer

It is probably not the best nor the cheapest method, but I thought it might be the easiest one. Apart from there being no instructions on which side of the paper to print (the shiny side), it turned out to be pretty easy, just as I suspected.

After printing the image, I cut it out as close to the image as I could and then put the cut out peace of paper in a bowl of water for about two minutes. When I could feel it slide of the backing I took it out of the water, placed it on the bottle with the backing on it where I wanted it and then I sort of just slid the backing out from the back of the image leaving the image on the bottle. There is a little film clip you can see here.

I dried of the image and made sure there was no bubbles and wrinkles on it. It took just a couple of minutes for it to dry.

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, Original, vintage bottles,

These transfer sheets are originally made to be transferred on to surfaces that are a bit more shiny and smooth than the chalk paint is. This resulted in the corners of the image sort of curled up when it dried. Therefore I brushed on a couple layers of Beckers Clear Matte Lacquer on the image and after I sanded it on the entire bottle. I used a rather thick brush and sort of pressed down the curled up corners until they stayed down.

I finished it al of with a little touch of Annie Sloan Dark Wax to distress a bit more.

Project life and a wedding cake

Hey! I´ve got some huge news for you!

Last Sunday we actually got to see the sun!! As I mentioned in a previous post, we had two hours of sunshine here in Stockholm so far in November. TWO hours! But the sun was shining more or less the whole day on Sunday. That means at least like… eight hours of daylight in one day. We are all still in a state of shock.

Of cause the sunshine and beautiful daylight meant I could actually photograph my pages in their pockets and without having to spend too much time on trying to edit them.

I have now reached the end of August and the week when a dear scrapbooking friend of mine got married. She had the courage to let me bake her wedding cake!

Originally I was aiming for a three tier cake but as the wedding was held so far from us and the cake would have to travel more than an hour in a car I didn’t dare to risk it to get damaged during the trip. Instead I made three smaller cakes and of cause about a hundred sugar flowers in her choice of colors.

I wanted this page to be very soft and romantic with not to much colors. I printed all of the photos on a soft gray background, I hope you can see that. I used some papers from Kaisercraft and My Minds Eye. The decorations is from one of my own freebie kits, the one I called Vintage Gray. You can find links to download them on my Facebook page.

NOEL - Annie Sloan Chalk paint

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, vintage, shabby chic, vintage living, DIY

I didn’t become the biggest fan of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint when it comes to painting furniture. I am far too much of a perfectionist for that. But I have to admit, I am totally in love with the vintage effects you can create with this paint, especially on smaller pieces like these letters.

I wanted them to look a bit shabby, sort of like driftwood. And I didnt want to sand. And well… I love the result. Without sanding.

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, vintage, shabby chic, vintage living, DIY

I used a number of colors starting with Grapithe as a solid base. The best part of using this paint is that when I was finished painting the last letter, the first was dry enough to be painted again. The part that I don’t like quite as much is that the paint is thick and rather difficult to apply. I know I can make it thinner with some water but the times I have done that, I always felt it doesn’t cover that good.

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, vintage, shabby chic, vintage living, DIY

After Graphite I started dry brushing on the colors starting with Louis Blue, then Scandinavian Pink, Versailles and finally Original.

When they dried I took a little Metallic Lustre, Iced Espresso on my fingers and added here and there. Last but not least, a little Light Wax and voila.

I give you NOEL.

Gotta love Annie Sloan.
I might just have an other new addiction.

A little freebie and a project life spread

MME, MyMindsEye, freebie, png, download, Project life, PL, pocket scrap

I just bought a 6x8 album that I decided to do my December daily in. It’s a big decision for me, and I’m not only talking about the size. I´m also talking about actually doing this Project Life thing for real, as it was supposed to be. You know, documenting every day, not only the days when something happens or weeks when lots of stuff happens and I happen to remember taking photos and those photos happen to turn out good enough.

I have tried this a couple times before but I always lost the battle and ended up with the whole thing feeling more like a “have to” than a fun thing. So… I don’t high hopes of succeeding this time either but it is only for a month so maybe... Keep your fingers crossed.

In any which case, I am so excited to try out the new size and pocket pages. Maybee that is why I don’t seem to be able to make a spread that I really like in the “old” 12x12 size.

freebie, png, download, Project life, PL, pocket scrap, digi stamp, digital

I have used a mix of my own freebies and a few papers from My Minds Eye. And of cause a lot of Photoshop. I honestly don’t know if I would survive if I couldn’t use that soft ware.

And while I was at it, I thought you might want a little freebie png that you can use as a stamp sort of file. It has a translucent background so yours dont have to be green like on the pic. You can just print it as is or put it on a photo similar to what I did on the right side of the spread. Hope you like it.

A few close ups on the details. I love the layered look and trye to get it in to my pages. Again a mix of MME and my own design.

Project life - an other Christmas page with freebies

Project life, pocket scrap, freebies, christmas

If you only knew how hard I have worked to get a pic of this page.
You would probably pat me on the head and say good girl or something like that.

Here in Sweden, the Stockholm area, have had two, I am not kidding here, TWO hours of sun shine during the whole of November. So you can see, it isn’t easy to take a good, sharp photo of a page.

Now, why don’t I live in Florida? Mum? Dad?

But on the positive note, we do, every now and then, have one of those beautiful white Christmases we all dream of. Although, statistic says that only nine of the passed 25 Cristmas Eves was white here in Stockholm. That’s less than 50 percent chance to get one this year.

As I told you I took these photos last year, just before Christmas. I wanted try the freebies I made and actually, I am quite happy with this page. Darn I was creative when I made that little girl. We might not have the standard 2,3 kids, but the one we have is the best quality. We went for quality, not quantity. How ever, I dont think we may say the same thing about that silly cat.

Project life - a page with the Cristmas freebies

project life, Pocket scrapboking, freebies,

Its just in middle of November, no snow anywhere close and I am already in Christmas mood. Are you? Yesterday I even forced hubby to play the Christmas play list. On the other hand, shops around here started putting out the Christmas stuff a week before Halloween.

I took these photos of my daughter last year. They turned out so great that I have sort of been keeping them for that special feeling or mood, that special patterned paper… If you are a scrapper you will know what I mean.

Yesterday I was in the right mood and this page is the result. There are of cause several other photos from the same photo shoot so I dont think you have seen the last Christmas page on this blog.

project life, Pocket scrapboking, freebies,
I have used the freebie kit that you can download here.  If you like my facebook page, you will be sure not to miss any freebies in the future.

Before I started on this page I printed the whole kit and cut the decorations. Anyone else love to cut out things? I glued some of the decorations on to a cardstock before I went on cutting. That gives a tiny bit of dimension that I like.
